Police Administration Charges On Miscreants

The Police Administration has moved to avert further acts of unprofessionalism on the part of personnel. According to a circular dispatched to various commanders, a copy of which was stumbled upon by the DAILY GUIDE, the action is a response to recent image-denting misconduct by some police officers which were captured by smart phones and spread via social media across the world. The internal circular represented the extent to which the Police Administration views unprofessional conduct by personnel in recent times and its readiness to deal with them. One such picture which trended widely on social media depicted a female law enforcement officer drinking an alcoholic beverage in public, a conduct which befuddled many who saw it. The Police Administration has called on personnel to be wary about the efficiency of modern technology in capturing misconducts and in transmitting such pictures across the world. Such pictures and actions the circular noted, can have a worrying impact on the image of a law enforcement agency whose special place in the justice administration chain should be spared such embarrassing conducts. Instances of cops sleeping on duty, eating in chop bars in uniform or passing inappropriate remarks in public places do not speak well about the Ghana Police Service, the intercepted circular pointed out. The Police Administration appears set to deal with such misconducts especially as smart phones and social media have become critical features of everyday lives of Ghanaians. Defaulters have already had their cases taken up; some of them having been interdicted pending the outcome of investigations into their unprofessional conduct.
