Bribery Of Delegates Over In NDC

YAW OBIMPEH, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), insists inducement of delegates with money by people seeking for party positions is over in the ruling political party.

According to him, the introduction of the biometric registration of NDC members which had culminated into the widening of the party’s Electoral College would make it impossible for party delegates to be bribed.

Yaw Obimpeh, therefore, showered praises on the current NDC national executives for having the vision of coming out with the spectacular idea of making it possible for every registered member to vote during NDC polls.

“The current NDC national executives are visionary people who deserve praise and commendation for widening the party’s Electoral College.

“Now, the era when some few party members were referred to as delegates, who only have voting rights during party elections is over, thanks to the decisive and effective leadership of our executives,” he mentioned.

Yaw Obimpeh was addressing his party members in Kumasi during the official launching of the NDC biometric registration of party members in the Ashanti Region.

The event coincided with the inauguration of NDC committees for election 2016 and it was graced by party bigwigs, including Johnson Asiedu Nketia, Joseph Yammin, Francis Dodovi, Raymond Tandoh, among others.

He observed that the widening of the party’s Electoral College would ensure that the choice of the party’s grassroot members in the various constituencies would end up being elected in party polls “without any bribe.”

Yaw Obimpeh also expressed delight and satisfaction about how the NDC had made incursions in the Ashanti Region which is perceived as the NPP’s strong fortress in recent years.

The NDC chairman disclosed that the days when the Ashanti Region was considered as the NPP’s stronghold were over, indicating that the NDC is ready to share votes equally with the NPP come 2016.

Yaw Obimpeh predicted that the NDC would win the 2016 polls, but he was quick to state that the victory would not come on a silver platter, therefore, the party members should be ready to campaign assiduously for the party.
