The Forehead Of Every NPP Member Has Been Marked With Violence- News Editor

Managing editor for the Republic newspaper David Tamakloe, has played down the chances of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) winning the 2016 general elections.

He described the NPP as a party that currently lacks the lethal threat to unseat the Mahama-led administration.

In an interview with Radio Gold, Mr. Tamakloe stated that the NPP now understands violence to an extent that they have marked the foreheads of their members with it.

He claims the frontline of the party is divided as a result of their violent behavior; making it difficult for their flagbearer to even announce his campaign team heading into a national elections.

He alleges that the party has only one option left if they really want to win the 2016 elections. “They have to use the Tahrir Square tactics if they want to win”, he said.

The Egyptian Revolution of 2011, locally known as the January 25 Revolution began on 25 January 2011 and was part of the Arab Spring. It consisted of demonstrations, marches, occupations of plazas, riots, non-violent civil resistance, acts of civil disobedience and strikes.

As the 2016 General Elections draws closer, the NPP has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to compile a new voters’ register for a transparent elections.

Between 2008 and 2012, the party claims available data shows there has been an unusual increase in the voters register in several constituencies.

The growth according to the party’s vice presidential candidate, Dr. Bawumia, is one that defies logic. The party has also made it clear they would participate in a planned move by some pressure groups to picket at the offices of the Electoral Commission (EC) on Wednesday 16th November, 2015, in order to press home the need for a new voters’ register ahead of the 2016 elections.

But responding to this, the managing editor for the Republic newspaper claimed there was no way the EC could come out with a new register taking into account the few months left for elections to be organized.

He maintains the NPP is clamoring for a new register because they know they would lose the elections.
