Why Is The Police Not Investigating Anas Expos�? - KB Asante Asks:

A retired Diplomat and Statesman K.B Asante is questioning why investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and the Chief Justice, did not handover the video evidence on the judicial corruption to the Police for further investigation.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, the retired diplomat said “the Police have all the facilities to deal with such cases.”

He cited an instance where one of his father’s friend who was also a renowned politician at the time was jailed after he was found guilty of corruption.

He said though the case in question caused agitation in Accra, “It was first reported to parliament, parliament did not deal with it they referred it to the police and the police investigated it.”

According to K.B Asante after the investigation the case was sent to court and the “high level politician” was found guilty and “he was sentenced to only one-day imprisonment” he added.

Ace journalist, Anas captured 34 judges on video, taking bribes, to influence judgments. Following the exposé, the Judicial Council has suspended 22 of the judges pending further investigations.

The video and other evidences were handed over to a five member disciplinary committee of the Judicial Council to investigate the petition against the 22 Judges and Magistrates.

Meanwhile the five-member committee set up the Chief Justice to investigate the matter have begun sitting.
