Fear was said to have gripped some lawyers and judges taking part in the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) Conference in Kumasi following reports that ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, had arrived at the venue. Reports of Anas � a member of the association � storming Kumasi to take part in the confab, spread in the Ashanti Regional capital 24 hours before the national event kick-started. Most of the legal practitioners and political pundits in Kumasi expressed doubt if indeed Anas, whose undercover investigations had exposed some judges taking bribes, could muster courage to take part in the conference. But strenuous checks by DAILY GUIDE have revealed that indeed Anas, despite the hullabaloo being made about his expose by some key people in the legal fraternity, came to Kumasi to take part in the event. The paper learnt that he managed to visit the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), venue for the opening ceremony of the Bar Conference, on Monday. Surprisingly, the internationally-acclaimed investigative journalist reportedly managed to join the queue of colleague journalists to register as a participant of the week-long programme without being observed. His name, which is normally written as Anas Aremeyaw Anas, was this time around written on the participants� attendance sheet as Anas Anas Aremeyaw. DAILY GUIDE tried to no avail to find out whether the change in the order of his name was done by him to outwit his colleague lawyers or it was a typographical error. The journalist cum lawyer�s name was the number 79 on the list and he had boldly signed in front of it with blue ink just as his colleagues who are taking part in the conference had done, without being noticed. He was said to have sat through the entire duration of the opening ceremony, which was virtually dominated by discussion of his bribery expose that had shaken the judiciary to its foundation. DAILY GUIDE gathered that it was after the opening ceremony had ended that some lawyers realized that Anas had signed in front of his name, indicating that he was present at the function. It is being rumoured that the manner in which he managed to outwit everybody to register and took part in the opening ceremony had created tension among some judges and lawyers. Most of the participants of the programme were not sure whether Anas was at the programme to really participate in it or to do his undercover job. The paper learnt that he left Kumasi right immediately the opening ceremony came to a close.
