Rawlings Daughter Replies Critics Over NDP Poster

The daughter of former President Rawlings, Dr. Ezenator has dismissed claims that she is not a member of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), after photos of her in another political party, National Democratic Party (NDP) colours emerged. Speaking in an interview with Citi News, Dr. Ezenator Rawlings urged her constituents to ignore attempts to paint her as an outsider. Ive been a member of the NDC since 2006 and my mother registered me as at that timeI think the important thing is that we keep the focus on the important matters, she said. Posters with images of all three children of the former president including Dr. Ezenator Rawlings with symbols of the National Democratic Party (NDP) have been widely splashed in some areas of the Klottey Korley constituency, where she is contesting. Ezenator said she is not the one in the said posters. I am being accused when Im actually not the person in the poster you are referring to, I think the point is moot, if I am a member of the NDC, then it really makes the whole argument quite irrelevant. Dr. Ezenator Rawlings is part of four aspirants who have filed nomination to contest the parliamentary seat of the Klottey Korley constituency. EZENATOR2 The allegations also come at a time when the NDC is preparing to vet aspirants for the partys upcoming parliamentary and presidential primaries. A member of the NDC in the Okaikoi North Constituency of the Greater Accra Region, Mayor Agbleze, has filed a writ in court seeking an injunction on the partys impending parliamentary primaries. According to him, the partys regulation on the number of years an individual ought to have been a member of the NDC before contesting internal elections flies in the face of the 1992 Constitution. He maintains the party must amend the published guidelines before proceeding with the primaries. Dr. Ezenator was however optimistic she will be able to sail through the race. According to her, she is focused on achieving her priority areas for the constituency, which include; sanitation, employment and health care. Other persons contesting in the parliamentary race include incumbent MP, Nii Armah Ashitey, Nii Johnson Coleman as well as grandson of the late Tetteh Quarshie, Leeford Kpakpo Quarshie.
