President John Dramani Mahama on Thursday expressed his devastation over the sudden death of the Ghanaian Times presidential correspondence, Samuel Nuamah after six years of dedicated service to the presidency.
�I�m so gutted by your death, six years of dedicated service to my office and it all ends in such a waste of your life,� the President said in a tribute read on his behalf at the burial rite of the late Nuamah held in the forecourt of the state house.
Samual Nuamah met his untimely death on Thursday August 20 this year when a mini-bus carrying the presidential press corps was said to have burst a tyre and somersaulted several times at Shai Osudoku near Tema killing him while several of his colleagues sustained various degrees of injuries.
The bus was returning from the Volta region where the President had attended the annual general assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana.
�It was a traumatising Thursday, and as I picked up the regular reports of the recovery process at the accident scene, death was not what came to mind, but his name, Samuel Nuamah, and personality was easily recognisable,� President Mahama recalled.
He described Nuamah as a very quiet young man on the outside who was usually briskly dressed at all occasions and appeared unique among his compatriots.
�Anytime I looked within the press corps at functions, he was one of the few I spotted, always smartly dressed with a bag in hand,� he said.
