Government on Friday warned members of Boards of State institutions to desist from overtly and covertly taking-over the day-to-day administration of the organizations, agencies and companies they had oversight responsibilities. �Government will discipline members of any Board who attempts to take over the administration of institutions they supervise�the practices which was witnessed in the recent past is unacceptable,� Mr Cletus Avoka, Minister of the Interior said during the inauguration of Boards of Security and Para-security agencies in Accra. The new Boards include; Prisons Service Council; Ghana Immigration Service Board; Ghana National Fire Service Council and the Narcotics Control Board. The Narcotics Control Board is charged to ensure a drug-free society through simultaneous supply and demand reduction measures; strict enforcement and control mechanism; education and prevention, treatment, rehabilitation and social re-integration. The Ghana National Fire Service Council is tasked to organise public fire education programmes; create and sustain awareness of the hazards of fire; and heighten the role of the individual in the prevention of fires. It is also to provide technical advice for building plans in respect of machinery and structural layouts to facilitate escape from fire, rescue operations and fire management. The Council shall inspect and offer technical advice on fire extinguishers; co-ordinate and advise on the training of personnel in fire fighting departments and institutions in the country; train and organize fire volunteer squads at community level; and offer rescue and evacuation services to those trapped by fire or in other emergency situations. The National Fire Service Council is chaired by Alhaji Ahmadu Sorogho, Member of Parliament for Madina-Abokobi; members are Mr. William Brown-Quaye, GOII Ivy Baiden and DCFO Steve Kandue representing the Fire Service. Others are Mr. Minta Afosa Aboagye from Ministry of Water Resources, Works and Housing; Ms Helen Ziwu, Attorney-General�s Department; Mr Romeo Adu-Tutu, Ministry of the Interior and Mr. S. B. K. Kyei from Ministry of Roads and Transport. The rest are Alhaji Adam A. Sadiq, Ministry of Employment and Social Welfare; Ms. Anita Esi Annan and Mr. Skido Achulo. The Narcotics Control Board is chaired by Naval Captain Baffour Assase Gyimah (Rtd). Members are Mr Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi, Deputy Minister for the Interior; Rev. Fred Deegbe, Sheikh Ishaak Nuamah, Dr. Kwasi Osei and Mr. Kosivi Degbor. The rest are; Ms. Gertrude Aikins, Attoney-General�s Department; DCOP Frank Adu-Poku, Ghana Police Service and Captain (GN) K.P. Faidoo. Others are Group Captain Griffiths Evans; DOP Ben Quaye, Ghana Prison�s Service; Mr Yaw Akrasi Sarpong, Executive Secretary; Mr. Robert Kwami, Mr. Ofori Adjei and Mr. Stephen Adongo. The Prison�s Service Council is chaired by Air Marshall John Asamoah Bruce (Rtd); Members are Mr. Cletus Avoka, Member of Parliament and Minister for the Interior; Mr. William Asiedu, Director-General of Prisons; Mr. Ebo Barton Oduro, Deputy Attorney General and Ms. Rejoice Juliet Ahiable. The rest are Mr. Benson Nutsukpui, Ghana Bar Association, Mr. Stephen Tampuri Adongo, Ministry of Employment and Social Welfare; Daasebre Kwabu Ewusi VII, National House of Chiefs; Pastor Stephen Wengam; Mr. Andrews K. Dzokoto, Mr. Johann Nartey from the Ghana Prison�s Service and Dr. Jacob Plange-Rhule, Ghana Medical Association. The Ghana Immigration Service Board is chaired by Dr. Seth Otuteye; Members are Mr. Cletus Avoka, Minister for the Interior, Ms Elizabeth Adjei, Director of Immigration; Ms Afua Benneh, Director of Passport. Other members are Mr Lawrence Kwadwo Appah, Dr. Adelaide Naa Amerley Kastner and Mr. Ismaila Alhassan.
