The Fear Of Zanetor Rawlings Sends Nii Armah Ashitey Into The Gutters

Elections have a way of making elected officials, be they from the ruling or opposition party, suddenly become more alive to their responsibilities. As a result ahead of the 2016 elections, MPs from the ruling NDC and the opposition NPP who have not be up and doing will suddenly be doing extra jobs in their constituencies and trying their best to breach the gap between them and the electorate they have ignored this far.

A few months ago, the primaries in the NPP suddenly saw some NPP MPs distributing all kinds of goodies including electricity meters, fertilizers and monies to their delegates while others went about trying to execute one developmental project or the other for obvious reasons.

Now, it is the turn of the NDC to go for primaries and already, things are beginning to happen. In the Korle Klottey Constituency, it is a two-horse race between the incumbent, Hon. Nii Armah Ashitey, and Dr. Zanator Rawlings, daughter of Former President Rawlings.

For almost the six years that he has been MP, Hon. Nii Armah Ashitey has not been sighted embarking on sanitation projects such as desilting choked drains etc. However, last week, he was seen exactly doing that, an activity many have attributed to the coming primaries and the stiff competition from Dr. Zanetor Rawligns.

Indeed, some even at a time President John Mahama, Vice-President Amissah Arthur and other VIPs were taking part in the National Sanitation Day Activities, the MP was nowhere to be found. It is this that makes the sight of him desilting gutters interesting.

Zanetor has made sanitation one of her priority areas to be tackled and has been seen at some sites where work is going on in the constituency.

The contest between Zanetor and the MP can go either way but the ultimate victors are going to be the people of Korle Klottey; with the way things are going, their constituency may soon become one of the neatest constituency in Ghana.
