Entrapment? That's A Lame Excuse By Implicated Judges - Allotey Jacobs

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) Central Regional Chairman, Bernard Allotey Jacobs says it is not an excuse for the judges to claim that investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas entrapped them into taking bribes against their wishes.

Another high court judge cited in the judicial bribery scandal, Justice Mohammed Habib Logoh, yesterday filed a writ challenging the legality of impeachment proceedings against him, arguing that he was trapped.

Virtually saying that he was trapped by the investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, the embattled judge is asking the court for a “declaration that the purported audio-visual recording and transcripts in which the Plaintiff was allegedly captured are unlawful and the same amount to entrapment.”

Justice Paul Dery had also sued Anas, citing entrapment as one of the 17 reliefs being sought. Anas and his Tiger Eye PI Company are pushing for the impeachment of all the 34 judges captured in his video, having petitioned President John Mahama and the Chief Justice.

But commenting on basis of common sense on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, the “Educated Fisherman” as he’s popularly called wondered why judges who are suppose to be knowledgeable in the law could be trapped by someone to pervert justice.

He added that the judges could not have been entrapped into taking bribes if they had not shown interest in the deal.

I heard this morning that some of the judges are saying it was entrapment. Entrapment is a police word but they should ask themselves, why do you allow yourselves to be entrapped?”, he quizzed.
