Leading member aspiring for the position as the National Chairman for the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah says the exposé by the ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas about the 34 judges allegedly taking bribes has vindicated some lawyers who in the past spoke about corruption in the judiciary.

According to him, the likes of the late Larry Bimi, Chris Akumey, Dr. Raymond Atuguba and Amaliba as lawyers mentioned that the country’s judiciary is rotten with corruption and in effect of that accusation, they were denied their right to earning a living.

Speaking on Radio Gold’s Weekend Flagship program 'Alhaji and Alhaji', Bernard Mornah explained that per the accusation of these lawyers the courts in the country didn’t admit any case that they were leading.

He stressed that until Anas video exposing some judges allegedly taking bribes from suppose relatives of offenders and criminals, it was as if talking about corruption in the Judiciary was something unthinkable.

“Has the court been fair to the likes of the late Larry Bimi who spoke about corruption in the judiciary; Larry Bimi at the time spoke alongside Chris Akumey, Dr. Raymond Atuguba and I think Amaliba…it was made in a manner as to think that the judiciary was sacrosanct and that they had a certain level of moral uprightness and that it was unthinkable for the judiciary to be tagged as corrupt,” he chided.

“These lawyers were denied their place of work; members of our society who actually used these lawyers had to take other lawyers because the court wouldn’t sit and hear any case that came from those lawyers. In the process the judiciary put it out in the public domain that they cannot be corrupt in any way,” he emphasized.

He professed it will be pretentious on anybody’s part to sound surprise about the video exposing judges allegedly taking bribes because it has been happening since the justices are products of the Ghanaian society.
