Kofi Buah To Go Unopposed

The Vetting Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has disqualified Mr Miezah Mea Alleah, an aspirant, from contesting the partys upcoming parliamentary primary in the Ellembele Constituency of the Western Region. Mr Alleah was to contest the primary with the current Member of Parliament (MP), Mr Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah. As a result of Mr Alleahs disqualification, Mr Buah, who is also the Minister of Petroleum, is to go unopposed in the primaries of the NDC on November 7. A Constituency Executive Member, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Takoradi after the vetting, said Mr Alleah was disqualified by the Vetting Committee because he did not have a party identity card. The executive member explained that the identity cards were issued to party members in good standing, and so in the case of Mr Alleah, the fact that he had no identity card meant that he had not paid his dues. Speaking to the GNA after the vetting, Mr Buah said he had been tried and tested by his constituents. He, therefore, urged them to retain him as their MP in the 2016 parliamentary elections, to enable him to continue with his good works in the constituency.
