Use NPPs Name Recognition Software To Screen Voters Register - Bernard Mornah

Aspiring National Chairman of the Peoples National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah, has suggested to the Electoral Commission (EC) to employ the service of the New Patriotic Partys (NPPs) technology which can detect persons who have registered more than once.

According to him, the demand for a new voters register by the opposition NPP does not guarantee clean register if people still have the means to register more than once.

Speaking on Okay Fms 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show, Bernard Mornah said the PNC has held the position that something can be done about the current voters register with the help of NPPs sophisticated technology which can detect Ghanaians who registered more than once.

Our position as PNC is that something can be done about the current voters register in particularly our brothers in NPP can help with their sophisticated technology which can detect Ghanaians who have registered more than once; that is the kind of technology we should be looking at, he asserted.

He stressed NPP has a technology which looks at names and determine their nationalities; we can use that technology to smoke out their names from the voters register and we go and prosecute them and ask them why they should not suffer sentence because they have violated the laws of Ghana.

He insisted it is only when this is done that the current voters register will be credible for the next elections; agreeing to the NPPs claim that it is wrong to have peoples names more than once in the register.

He therefore urged all political parties to prepare adequately to defend their proposal as the EC has scheduled the third week of October for the presentation to reach an agreement on what to be done so that there will be peace.

In conclusion, Bernard Mornah commended the Electoral Commission, saying his party PNC is in support of the big step the commission has taken to handle the voters register issue.
