Police Brutality On LMVCA Is Unacceptable; Days Of Being Called Police Force Is Over - Bernard Mornah

The brutality that the political pressure group christened Let My Vote Count Alliance (LMVCA) suffered in the hands of Ghana Police Service has been condemned heavily by the aspiring National Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah.

According to him, demonstrations fit well for the 1992 Constitution as enshrined to allow people the right to protest to ensure the country is better no matter how different their views are about on an issue.

“The way the police brutalized the LMVCA protestors was unacceptable; they should remember that the days of being called police force is over because today, they are a police service. They cannot beat us as if they are protesting for colonial disengagement; we are protesting to ensure that our country is better,” he rebuked the police on Okay Fm’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show.

He wondered why the police could carried out such ordeal on the protesters as none of them carried any weapon apart from carrying paper to petition the Electoral Commission.

He insisted in as much as the views of demonstrators may differ, the police service erred in its action to meet just Ghanaians who want to make life more meaningful; thus it is unacceptable going forward as a country.

“..I condemn the police molestation and brutalization which they subjected the Let My Vote Count Alliance demonstrators to,” he chided the police.
