Prices of commodities have reduced in Koforidua markets as compared to costs some few weeks ago.

As a result, retail prices of foodstuff such as onion and tomatoes have reduced while others like garden eggs and pepper have increased in quantity.

According to a Ghana News Agency (GNA) survey conducted in both the Juaben Serwa and other satellites markets in Koforidua, prices of foodstuff such as maize, onion, pepper, tomatoes, cassava, yam and garden eggs have gone down significantly.

The price of a sack of pepper had dropped from GH₡ 250.00 last three weeks to GH₡ 70.00, onion from GH₡ 460.00 a sack to GH₡ 350.00, tomatoes crate from GH₡ 450.00 to GH₡ 280.00 and cassava from GH₡ 150.00 a sack to GH₡ 50.00.

A bunch of plantain had dropped from GH₡20.00 to GH₡15.00, four tubers of yam selling at GH₡ 10.00 instead of three last three week while garden eggs dropped from GH₡ 200.00 per sack to GH₡ 90.00 per the same quantity.

Some of the market women who spoke on anonymity told GNA that, even though the prices had dropped, patronage is still low.

An onion seller indicated that, even though the price had dropped, the ‘agadas’ type which is readily available is not patronised because of its colour.
