Leaders asked to be selfless

Mr. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, Nkoranza South District Chief Executive, has urged people in leadership positions to place the welfare of the people and development of the state above their personal interests. He urged such leaders to be committed to duty and render good services to the people by initiating policies and programmes that would promote development. Mr. Agyekum was addressing the chiefs and people of Nkwabeng at the inauguration of Nkwabeng Town Council and the central unit committee for the community. He commended the committee members for offering themselves to serve the community and urged them to work with diligence and in humility. The DCE advised the committee to maintain their cooperative spirit and organise the people to initiate programmes that would help improve their living standards. Mr. Agyekum reminded the townsfolk that committee members� work was voluntary and called on the traditional authorities to support the town and area councils as well as the unit committees in their duties. He asked the committee members to keep accurate reports on their activities and also be transparent in financial transactions to earn and keep the trust and confidence of the community. Mr. Agyekum advised the youth to fully participate in communal labour activities to support development programmes. Mr. Asirifi-Kudom, Presiding Member of the assembly, urged the people to bury their political differences and forge ahead in unity towards the development of the area. He advised the youth to live above reproach and support on-going development projects. Nana Adjei Sarkodie, Mr. Matthew Agyemang and Mr. Kwame Baffoe Duah, assembly members of the area, in a joint speech, appealed to the district assembly to support the community to complete the on-going construction of the police post in the area.
