<<Print>>Editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako has claimed that lawyers for implicated judges in the Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ exposé on judicial corruption would turn into statues when they finally ‘unmask him’.
The veteran journalist speaking on Peace FM likened the face of the world acclaimed investigative journalist to the epic ‘Head of Medusa’ which made people motionless after watching it. “I have heard people saying that they want to see his face…you want to see his face or the video evidence indicating your client is receiving bribe or discussing case before him…when they see his face, they would turn into statues…it is like the head of medusa…,” he said.
A lawyer for some of the implicated judges, Captain Nkrabeah Effah Dartey had earlier warned that he would force the committee to unmask Anas during cross-examination before the committee investigating the case. “I wish to have the opportunity to cross examine him (Anas) and trust me, he and his team will regret the day he was born. I will ask the committee to remove the mask and if they fail I will personally force them to remove it to tell us truth".
We would also sue him and demand heavy damages if my clients are exonerated…” Lawyer for one of the judges, Captain Nkrabeah Effa Dartey said on Asempa FM Tuesday.
The politician cum Lawyer is also on record as threatening that he would make Anas’ regret for daring to unearth corruption in the judiciary.
“We are ready to face our accusers; anybody who is saying he has given bribe to Gilbert Ayisi Addo, we will face him at the Disciplinary Committee. He will explain to us where and when he gave money to Justice Ayisi Addo; he will be sorry he was born. I pray to God to get the opportunity to cross-examine that Tiger Eye person and he will regret the day he was born”, he threatened.
But the threats, Kweku Baako insisted was not necessary adding that it would rather be better for the judges to concentrate on the merits of the case other than seeking to personally attack Anas.
Kweku Baako further said that like Lawyer John Ndebugri who abandoned one of his clients to his fate after watching the video with him, Captain (Rtd) Effah-Dartey would take to his heels after seeing the evidence against his client, Justice Gilbert Ayisi Addo.
“A lawyer is saying he would make Anas regret the day he was born…look I can bet you that particular case especially, the Lawyer who said so on behalf of his client on radio, I can bet that Lawyer that he would be running away from the committee sitting the day he would get there…,” he said.
He added that his strong defense of Anas is based on the fact the Investigative Journalist and Tigereye PI did not make the full evidence available to the public.
“The documentary shown to the public is less than the evidence given the committee investigating the exposé…,” he said.
