The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested three suspected car snatchers at Gushie, a small village with Tamale after successfully snatching a taxi with a registration number NR732-14.
The suspects; a jobless Abdul Salam 34, an unemployed Danaa Stephen and Adam 44 a taxi driver.
ASP Ebenezer Tetteh, the official mouthpiece of the Regional Police headquarters explained that at about 4pm on October 08, 2015, the victim, Eric Asui the driver, on his usual rounds encountered Abdul Salam at around a Goil Filling Station adjacent the Melcom Mall who hired him for a service at a fee of 10Gh.
Abdul Salam was joined by Danaa Stephen after they (Salam and the taxi driver) reached an agreement.
ASP Tetteh said midway into the journey, Abdul Salam seated at the back seat of the cab jabbed the taxi driver in the head and with the help of Danaaa, they pulled the driver out from the taxi and escaped with it.
The Police PRO furthered that a wireless message was delivered across after they lodged a complaint and at about 6am 09/10/2015, the cab was intercepted at Gushie with Abdul Salam and Adam. The third suspect, he said was lured into a location and arrested.
The Police however in their preliminary investigation has found the second suspect Adam was set up by Abdul Salam so may be set free.
The others were charged with robbery and assisting robbery respectively at the Tamale Magistrate Court.
The police have launched a desperate bid to end activities of brutal cyber criminals in a move to increase ease over people living in fear.
In a related development, the Police have began a search for some unknown armed robbers who attacked market women travelling from Damba to Tatale in the Northern region.
The traders travelling in a Kia truck with a registration number AS7696-14 was shot at by the robbers indiscriminately at a small town called Dekonkolibe where they blocked the road.
The shots hit the driver of the vehicle and two passengers.
The passengers; Hajia Sharifa Inusah was confirmed dead and Sharia Seidu 40 was said to be in critical condition at the Tamale Teaching Hospital.
