We Have Not Completed Only 2 Community Day SHS; 123 Schools Are At Various Completion Levels - Kofi Adams

Many political pundits especially from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have argued that the 200 Community Day Senior High Schools promised by President Mahama before the end of 2016 is impossible as the President is yet to commission the second school in Western Region.

President Mahama as per his promise to establish 200 Community based SHS has commissioned the first one at Central Region, precisely at Otuam, the hometown of the late President Mills as it was named after him.

Committed to the President’s promise, Kofi Adams on Okay Fm’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show hinted the second commissioning is not the only schools ready for usage but about 123 schools are at various levels of completion; thus President Mahama needs not to be present in all the schools before they are used.

“We have not completed only two of the Community based SHS; it is not all the projects that President Mahama can commission before it starts to operate. We promised 200 across the country and as at now, 123 are at various levels of completion,” he hinted.

He elaborated that some of the Community based schools only need chairs while others need painting and plastering respectively; stressing that so many of the Community based schools across the country have reached finishing stage.

“….We can say either 90 percent or 95 percent is complete; others are 70 percent and 80 percent complete. So we are still on it and I am quite convinced that next year if all the 200 is not completed, majority of them will be ready for use…,” he assured.

He professed that President Mahama is committed to ensuring that additional space and opportunity is giving to children who have passed their B.E.C.E.
