Ghanaians Cautioned About Job Opportunities In Kuwait

The queen mother of Apam, Nana Essel Botwe III, has advised Ghanaians to ignore advertisements in the media about lucrative job opportunities in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

According to her some Ghanaians who have been swayed by the adverts have been stranded in these country and wish to return but have found it difficult to do so.

Nana Botwe made this known when she addressed a durbar at Apam to mark the 2015 annual Akwambo Festival.

The Queen mother said the adverts have targeted carpenters, masons, drivers, plumbers, electricians and other skill workers.

“These are sweet and deceptive words and Ghanaians should not allow themselves to be swayed to following them,” she said.

The queen mother stated that reports reaching her indicated that some of those who have been swayed have become stranded and have sought refuge in some Embassies to be repatriated.

According to the queen mother upon arrival in those countries, the migrants’ passports were first seized and the people involved made to work for several hours a day under dehumanizing conditions and for very paltry allowances.

Ghana is very safe, she said, adding that, selling bread, pure water, kenkey and food items could earn citizens a descent living instead of travelling abroad to suffer and regret.

The DCE for Gomoa West, Mr Theophilus Aidoo Mensah, reiterated his appealed to the people to refrain from lawless and acts that could plunge them into conflict with the law
