Stan Dogbe Is Rather Irresponsible... - GJA

Western Regional President of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA), Mr. Moses Dotse Aklobeto has hit back at Presidential Staffer, Stan Dogbe for failing to acknowledge the effort of journalists to trumpet home the activities of President Mahama in the region.

Stan Dogbe incurred the wrath of many when he categorically dismissed reports that the Presidential Convoy has been involved in an accident.

Press men in the Western Region returning from President John Mahama's commissioning ceremony of a new community Senior High School were involved in an accident on Monday.

But he desscribed the report as 'irresponsible'.

Commenting on his facebook wall, he said: "There has been no accident involving the Flagstaff House Press Corps or any vehicle from the Flagstaff House in the Western Region.

The team with the President on his ‪#‎Changinglives‬ tour of the Western Region has long arrived in the Central Region.

At least, as leader of the Communications Team on this trip, none of the media houses engaged in this irresponsible reports have contacted me or the Minister for Communications, Edward Omane Boamah to verify the story".

But reacting to Stan Dogbe’s comment on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, Dotse Aklobeto opined that Stan could have used the opportunity to show solidarity to the affected journalists.

Admitting that Stan Dobge was right to clear the air that the Presidential Press Corps was not involved in any form of accident, Moses Dotse insisted it was the perfect opportunity for the Presidential Staffer to have acknowledged the effort of the journalists in the region.

It was true but at least, the other people who supported in the reportage of the President’s visit, it is just fair that once you have the opportunity to clear the air, you should have shown solidarity for coming to cover your program in that region; after all, it is their management that is taking care of their medical bills”, he opined.

We can’t force him to apologize to us because I am not sure he wants to apologize. They should have that kind of respect for the media in the region because we report on government activities in the region…you don’t call the profession irresponsible; which one is the responsibility if you denounce your own people who are fighting for their lives in hospital bed to get back on their feet to work for the government in the region?
