Police Pursues NPP Klottey Korle Candidate Over Gh75,000 Car Scandal

Just when the dust on his university certificate saga was about settling, controversy-prone parliamentary candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Klottey Korle Constituency, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey is brewing another shocker.

The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the police service may soon be on the heels of the man who, not long ago, won the parliamentary candidacy of his party amidst protests which are yet to be resolved, to answer questions bordering on allegations of fraud.

The CID’s yet-to-be issued invitation comes on the back of a petition from lawyers for one Stanley Asimenu, who accused the parliamentary candidate issuing dud cheques and not answering his phone after.

In Victor Kwadjoga Adawudu of Adawudu Law Consultancy’s petition, intercepted by the New Crusading GUIDE, the NPP parliamentary candidate was alleged to have taken delivery of an unregistered vehicle belonging to one Stanley Asimenu at an agreed price of GH¢75, 000.

The petition indicated that the Parliamentary candidate issued cheques, Fifty Three Thousand Cedis (GH₵53, 000) and Twenty Thousand Cedis (GH₵20, 000), on15thand 18th August, 2015, respectively as part payment for the vehicle, but the Stanbic Heights bank branch cheques were not honoured.

“Our client has being calling the said Valentino NiiNoiNortey to return the vehicle but to no avail and he will not also respond to his calls”, the petition stated.

Likening his way to the modus operandi of fraudsters and scammers, Lawyer Victor Adawudu called on the Police to investigate Nii Noi Nortey and initiate the necessary prosecution against him.

“We look forward to a swift and decisive action on this matter to ensure protection of life and property”, the lawyer appealed.

meanwhile, all efforts to reach Nii Noi Nortey to confirm or not the accusations leveled against him proved futile as calls to his 02017...48 since Sunday had not been answered as at the time of going to press yesterday.

Stay tuned.
