My Region Would Give NDC 80% Of Our Votes - Sunyani Chief Promises Mahama

The Paramount Chief of Sunyani, Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri, has promised President Mahama and the National Democratic Congress that the Brong Ahafo Region will vote massively for the ruling party in next year's polls.

President John Dramani Mahama is still on his #Changing Lives Tour of the Eastern Regional capital and Dormaa in the Brong Ahafo region.

The president used the visit to meet business owners and other interest groups and traditional authorities to discuss government policies and programmes under his transformation agenda and the latest on the first public University in the Eastern region.

His other mission is to convince the people he interacts with to retain him in power.

Unlike other regions where the NDC is aiming to set an agenda 50-50 to increase their votes, Nana Bosoma Asor Nkrawiri promised the NDC the Brong Ahafo Region would make it 80% in their favour.

Our reporter Oheneba Kennedy revealed that Nana Bosoma Asor told President Mahama at a public gathering that “the 80% is a promise. Other regions can promise 50% but we are going to give you 80%”.

At the end of the 2012 presidential election, the NDC raked in 511,244 from the Brong Ahafo Region representing 51.49% whilst their main rival, the New Patriotic Party led by Nana Akufo-Addo had 469,909 representing 47.33%.

It however remains to be seen if his promise will be honoured in the 2016 elections.
