I Have Apologized To My Sister Konadu Rawlings

Former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings has revealed she has made up with her sister Nana Yaa Agyeman-Attah and others after allegedly orchestrating her dismissal from the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).

Agyeman-Attah, a younger sister of Konadu and wife of journalist-turned-ambassador Alhaji Haruna Attah, was sacked from GBC for failing to be on her feet when Konadu entered a function in the 80s. It is widely believed the former first lady played a crucial role in her dismissal.

For well over two decades, a frosty relationship had existed between the Attah and Rawlings families over the issue and it exacerbated when Nana Konadu also played a major part in the dismissal of Haruna Attah as the Managing Director of Ghana Films Industry Corporation (GFIC) in the 80s.

In July, 1998, Nana Konadu instituted a legal action against Haruna Attah and Kweku Baako. The two were jailed between July 23, 1998 and August 22, 1998.

Speaking to Accra-based Joy FM, Tuesday, Nana Konadu was emphatic that they have buried the hatchet.

“My sister [Nana Yaa] is somebody that I love so much,” Nana Konadu told host Nhyira Addo.

“There were difficult situations in between and mistakes were made, apologies have been rendered and we’re back on track.”

Nana Konadu was present at the wedding of Ramah Haruna-Attah, youngest daughter of the Ghana ambassador to Namibia where Haruna and Konadu danced together.
