Chief appeals to MOH to upgrade Nkoranza Health Centre

Okatakyie Agyeman Kudom IV, Paramount Chief of Nkoranza Traditional Area, has appealed to the Ministry of Health to upgrade the Nkoranza health centre into a hospital to cater for the growing population in the community. He noted that the Saint Theresas Hospital at Nkoranza could not bear the pressure of the increasing number of patients as it was the only hospital serving both Nkoranza North and South Districts. Okatakyie Agyeman made the appeal when he received hospital equipment worth about GH 7000.00 presented to the health centre by Christian in Action Ministry, Ghana, which has its headquarters at Nkoranza. The items, which include face masks, disposable thoracic, skin preps, syringes, dispensable wash cloths, oxygen mash and insulin syringes were donated by Ms Jane Cash, a nurse in California, USA. The paramount chief commended the church for showing great love and concern for the well-being of the people of Nkoranza, and called on philanthropists and non governmental organisations to offer them similar support. The Reverend Julius Nangai, President of the church, said the gesture was part of the churchs role and responsibility, as a stakeholder in national development, to promote the welfare of the people. He commended the American nurse for her generosity, saying the gesture had shown her concern as a nurse who cares about the health of the people. Rev. Nangai said the church was constructing a hand-dug well with a pumping machine for the people of Ahyiayem in the Nkoranza South District to help solve their water problem. He urged nurses at the health centre to handle the items well to enhance their lifespan and gave the assurance that the church would continue to support the communities.
