Police Hunts For Woman Who Dumped Baby In Pit Laterine

The Konongo-Odumase Police have begun a manhunt for a woman who dumped a newborn baby in a pit latrine at Nobewam in the Konongo Municipality.

The hunt follows the discovery of the dead foetus in the pit latrine by some schoolchildren who were playing near their school toilet.

The alarm raised by the children drew the attention of residents of Nobewam and its surrounding communities to have a glimpse of the dead foetus before a report was made to the police.

The Station Officer for Odumase Police, Chief Inspector Asare Ntow, told The Mirror  that upon hearing the incident, he led a team of personnel and some unit committee members of the town, to the scene.

He explained that  several attempts were made to remove the dead foetus from the pit for burial but they were not successful as the pit was filled with water.

He appealed to residents of the town to cooperate and volunteer information that could lead to the arrest of the person responsible for the cruel act.

During a tour of the scene by the police and the town’s unit committee, the Vice Chairman of the Unit Committee at Nobewam, Mr Paul Badu, assured the police of their commitment and pledged to ensure  the culprit is identified.

He called on residents of the area to help arrest the culprit to serve as a deterrent to others who have the intention of committing such nefarious acts.
