If You Think Kufuor And Nana Addo Can Resolve NPP Problems Then Trash Council of Elders - Dr. Amoako Baah

The opposition New Patriotic Party [NPP] is battling an internal skirmish which has led to the suspension of their National Chairman, Paul Afoko.

The ‘Elephant’ fraternity National Executive Committee (NEC) last Friday unanimously voted to suspend Paul Afoko indefinitely – with recommendation from the party’s Disciplinary Committee.

Communiqué issued by the party says – “By the decision of the NEC, Mr. Paul Afoko is suspended indefinitely from the position of National Chairman of NPP. Mr. Freddie Blay, the 1st Vice Chair, per the NPP’s Constitution, becomes acting National Chairman of the NPP.”

However, many have raised issues as to why former president John Agyekum Kufour and flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo are not mediating the matter to solve it amicably.

But the Head of the Political Science Department at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Richard Amoako Baah has argued that such call from the party to only depend on Nana Addo and Ex-President Kufour to solve NPP issues must be abolished.

He explained on NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie' that – the party’s Council of Elders should be the first point of call to resolve NPP issues internally.

To him – if the Council of Elders are not recognized by the party, then they should dissolve them from the party’s structure – “What is their use then?”
