EC's Composition Of Forum Panel Appears Like An NDC Fact Finding Committee...

Director of Elections of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah has described the committee set up by the Electoral Commission to address the ruckus surrounding the voters’ register as unfair.

The Electoral Commission has assembled a Panel of Eminent Ghanaians to hold a two-day public hearing on the voters’ register, consisting of His Lordship Professor Crabbe, Most Reverend Professor Emmanuel Asante, Dr. Grace Bediako, Prof. Nii Narku Quaynor and Maulvi Bin Salih.

But Adjei Mensah Korsah believes the Electoral Commission only appointed Professor Crabbe as the Chairman of the Committee because, prior to his appointment, he (Prof Crabbe) told the media he is against the call for a new voters’ register.

He again mentioned that Dr. Nii Narku Quaynor cannot escape bias as he has been an activist of the ruling NDC and government appointee at the National Information Technology Agency (NITA).

“Justice Crabbe said he is against the call for new voters’ register and he rather suggested we clean the voters’ register but failed to tell us how we do the clean up. If such a person has made this declaration in public stating his position on this issue, then you set up a committee on this same issue and made this man to chair the committee?" he asked in an interview with Kwame Nkrumah Tikese on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show.

Another person serving on the committee is Prof. Quaynor and I strongly believe he is a member of the NDC; he is a known NDC activist and before the 2012 elections, he represented the NDC as a technical man in deciding the biometric registration. He is government appointee chairing National Information Technology Agency; is it an NDC fact finding committee to look into the voters’ register?”, he queried.
