Thousands of NDC supporters in the Klottey Korle constituency on Sunday afternoon thronged the Sahara Park at Odawna from all the nine (9) wards of the constituency amidst jubilant euphoria to herald the launch of the campaign by the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) Nii Armah Ashietey to retain the seat for the NDC in 2016.

Earlier in the morning on Sunday, NDC party supporters in the constituency embarked on a street float around Osu Doku, Osu Alata, Osu Ashante, through Ridge to Asylum down, Adabraka and finally congregated at the famed Sahara Park at Odawnaa where they chanted jubilantly to greet the arrival of the MP.

The supporters who were clad in Nii Armah Ashietey and John Dramani Mahama T- shirts and other NDC party paraphernalia sang, danced and chanted songs to eulogise their MP Nii Armah Ashitey.

Many speakers at the rally including the NDC Klottey Korle Constituency Chairman Mohammed Bashiru aka ‘’Bash’’, the constituency  secretary, the Women’s Organizer, the Treasurer, and a host of other executives  mounted the stage to endorse the candidature of Nii Armah Ashietey and urged constituents to vote massively for him in order to retain the seat for the NDC in 2016.

The Member of Parliament for the Ablekuma Central Constituency and Chairman of the Roads and Transport Committee in parliament Theophilus Tetteh Chai who also spoke at the rally urged constituents to vote massively to retain Nii Armah Ashietey because his contribution to the work of parliament and the constituency cannot be matched by a new comer. According to him, Nii Armah Ashietey has on the floor of parliament constantly called for support for the flood prone areas in the constituency. As a result, he indicated that President Mahama on his recent trip to France made it a top priority and has secured funding for the construction of storm drains which will soon be realized. This project is expected to bring relief particularly to residents of Odawna, Sahara and its environs.

In his address to launch the campaign, Nii Armah Ashietey reminded the constituents of the many developmental projects that have been undertaken to better the lives of the people in the constituencyparticularly in the area of health, infrastructure, sanitation and education. He added that he will continue to use skills training to drive personal development of the constituents in Klottey Korle.

Nii Armah Ashietey stressed that the NDC continues to be the most attractive political party in Ghana and in Klottey Korle but insisted that the party needs his experience and knowledge of the constituency dynamics acquired over the years as party constituency chairman and MP for two consecutive terms to retain the seat in 2016.

He called on all the NDC party supporters to intensify their belief in the changing lives, transforming Ghana agenda of President John Dramani Mahama. He said a lot has been achieved at both the constituency and national level, and thus President John Dramani Mahama must be given the opportunity to complete what he started.

Some of the supporters who spoke to this reporter reaffirmed their unflinching support for Nii Armah Ashietey, and promised to vote massively for him on November 7th when the party goes for its primaries to elect both Parliamentary and Presidential candidates.
