UBA Reward 12 Customers In Remittance Business

United Bank for Africa (UBA) on Wednesday rewarded twelve (12) lucky highest transacting customers in the remittance business of the bank.

According to Edith Praise, Product Manageress Remittances, the remittance business is growing and to increase her market share, UBA Ghana organized a promotion to reward customers which should increase patronage of these products at the bank.

The objective of the campaign was to reward customers in other to retain their loyalty and to increase their visibility in the remittance market.

The twelve lucky customers were rewarded on the basis of transacting through either Western Union or MoneyGram from May to June, 2015.

With for the selection process, the highest transacting customers were rewarded in order of performance.

Winners were drawn from Accra, Takoradi, Kumasi and Aflao.

Happy Chappell, Salvatore Melarosa, Elizabeth Harris, Afoh Ejirieme Caleb all won fridges as the highest transacting customers.

Lucky Nana, Juliet Gbeho, Josephine Nelson and Gladys Appiah from Takoradi also won gas cookers.

The remaining, Beatrice Aidoo from Kumasi, Amin Ramatu, Eric Obeng and Appiah Kwabena Oduro from Aflao won microwaves.

In her address while presenting the prizes to the customers, Managing Director of the Bank, Mrs Abiola Bawuah said her outfit has and will continue to roll out more juicy products and customer interest services that will make UBA the highest share holder both in the remittance market and retail banking.

She said UBA intends to introduce Warri, another money transfer platform, and encourages customers too to use the Afritrade platform alongside the Western Union and MoneyGram.

She also encouraged Ghanaian businessmen and women to patronize the UBA Africard which is a pre-funded and re-loadable card that is not tied to any bank account.

"It is internationally accepted at all Visa acceptance points (ATM, POS & Web) in over 200 countries. Cardholders do not need to have an account with UBA.

"The UBA Africard is a visa-enabled reloadable cedi-denominated card which is not tied to any bank account and can be used on visa platforms and point of sale terminals around the world. Funds on the card can be accessed in local currencies in different countries," she said.

The UBA Africard, which can be obtained instantly, can be used in the over 1.9 million ATMs and 30 million point of sale terminals across the world.

It is Verified by Visa, which secures payments made via the internet.
