Motor Rider Fined For Causing Damage

Daniel Arku, a 24-year-old electrician has been fined GH¢720 for careless and inconsiderate riding and causing harm by the Senchi Magistrate court.

Arku’s accomplice, Kaiser Collins, failed to appear in court and the court, presided over by Mr Ernest Adjanor, had issued a bench warrant for his arrest. ASP Richmond Akwasi Yeboah, the prosecutor told the court that Collins is a 22-year-old student who lives at Juapong, while Arku also resided at Juapong.

He said on June 27, 2015 at about 10 a.m., Collins who, knew that Arku was not a professional rider gave him his  motorbike with registration number M-15GR 2131 with him (Collins) as pillion rider, to go to Anum.

ASP Yeboah said on that day at about 7:00 p.m, while  Arku was returning from Anum towards Juapong with a pillion rider, one Mark Odame, 21, he hit a motorist.

He said on reaching a section of the road at Osiabura on the Asikuma/Juapong Road, Arku lost control and rode the motorbike into an on-coming BMW private car with registration number GW 3445-T  from the opposite direction.

He said the BMW driver, sensing danger, swerved to the edge off the road, but unfortunately Arku hit the car with his motor bike.

The prosecutor said both Arku and Odame sustained various injuries and were admitted at the Akosombo VRA hospital where they were treated and later discharged.

ASP Yeboah said  the Anum police  investigated the case and Arku was subsequently arraigned.
