Dont Blame Us For Influx Of Fake Teachers GES

The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Ghana Education Service, Rev. Jonathan Bettey has said the service should not be blamed for fake teachers in the education sector.

In an interview on Eyewitness News, Rev. Jonathan Bettey insisted that the Ghana Education Service (GES) cannot be held responsible for the presence of unqualified teachers in the public education system.

“We can hold who have entered into the system wrongly responsible,” he said.

GES has revealed that more than 100 teachers in the Brong Ahafo region and other parts of the country have fake certificates and that it is putting in place measures to clamp down on all such persons nationwide.

Rev. Bettey could however not state categorically the sort of punishment that these unscrupulous persons would receive, but stated that “the mechanism is still in place, we have not ended… Until everything is over, there is nothing we can say about the punitive measures against the people arrested.”

Rev. Bettey assured Ghanaians that the Ghana Education Service is doing its best to ensure that only qualified teachers will teach in public schools.
