Woman Who Poisoned 2 Daughters Over Broken Heart (PHOTOS)

Residents of Essikado in the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis of the Western Region became dumbfounded yesterday when news broke that a popular woman in the area had allegedly poisoned her two daughters to death.

The woman, 40-year-old Naana Amenenah, is believed to be mentally unstable due to alleged broken-heart. She is suspected to have mixed a poisonous substance with some beverage which was consumed by the two children, aged 6 and 8. According to some of the residents of the area, the children were said to have died in their sleep.

The residents explained that the kids were nowhere to be found yesterday morning after the mother had gone out and locked the door.

Daily Guide gathered that people around the area had to break into the room of the alleged mentally deranged woman and found the two little girls lying dead. According to sources, when the door was opened the people saw some of the allegedly poisoned beverage in a cup beside them.

A source who confirmed the incident to journalists indicated that the suspect lives near the Essikado police station and that prior to the death of the children, nothing indicated that she was mentally unstable.

“The woman took good care of her children and made sure the kids were always clean and good-looking. She was very particular about the education of the children and made sure they always attended school,” a resident who wanted her name concealed indicated.

She stated, “The whole community is in a state of mourning, as we woke up to the sad incident. “We hear the woman is mentally challenged, but nothing really showed for us to suspect that she had such a condition.”

Daily Guide gathered that the bodies of the deceased had been deposited at the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi, while the police had begun investigations to unravel the circumstances that led to the death of the children.

Meanwhile, the mother of the deceased, Daily Guide learnt, would soon be sent to a psychiatric hospital for mental check-up to enable her assist in investigations.
