The Accra Central District Police have apprehended a 32 year old man who for robbing a woman of her two mobile phones and a cash of GHC500.00 .
Suspect Issah Alhassan, allegedly committed the act on Friday October 30, 2015 around 9:30am at Tudu.

Information gathered indicated that the suspect, believed to be part of a group, called the lady (name withheld), a traveler and introduced himself as a spiritualist.

He then told the lady that in the spiritual realm, he could see that some evil spirits were pursuing her.

He then asked victim for a 50 pesewas coin to perform a ritual to free her from the evil attacks.

The victim obliged and gave the coin to the suspect for the said ritual but instead, suspect made the money vanished. The victim who was convinced gave the suspect another 50 pesewas from her bag.

Suspect allegedly asked victim to spit on the money before he would use it, which she did. After spitting on the money, the suspect took it and after reciting some words, rubbed it on the victim’s bag which contained her phones.

Suspect allegedly took the mobile phones together with the GHC500 in the bag cunningly before handing over the bag to her.

He thereafter instructed the victim not to turn her back or open the bag before she gets to her destination.

An eye witness who saw the suspect took out the mobile phones and the cash quickly alerted the victim.

She hurriedly opened the bag and the aforementioned items were truly not in the bag and when she rushed back to where she had met the suspect, he had vanished.

The victim immediately lodged a complaint to the police.

The following morning, the victim together with some police officers from the Accra Central Police went to the place and they found the suspect and apprehended him instantly.

Upon interrogation, he admitted the act but refused to deliver the items. DSP Owusu Sekyere, the Accra Central District Crime Officer who confirmed the arrest to DAILY GUIDE said, Issah has been charged for stealing and would be sent to court.

He cautioned travelers to be wary of the activities of these confident tricksters and resist their approach.
