Ashaiman NDC Chairman Is Alive And Well

The Ashaiman branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has debunked some media reports that Mr Shaddat Umar Jallo, its chairman, has been killed for questioning a rigging scheme to re-elect Mr Alfred Agbesi,

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr Allen De-graft Quansah, NDC Ashaiman Constituency Secretary, said that there was no iota of truth in the report that the chairman has been butchered for questioning the bloating of the constituency voter’s register to favour Mr Alfred Agbesi, the incumbent Member of Parliament.

Mr Quansah said the Chairman was in good health and therefore asked Ashaiman residents especially party members to ignore the report.

He cautioned those behind the circulation of the story to desist from doing so as "it is the figment of their imagination".

He added that it was unfortunate that some detractors of the Party have resorted to peddling of lies because their expectation of chaos in Ashaiman during the biometric registration did not happen.

Touching on the biometric registration exercise in the Constituency, he stated that a total of 12,336 members had their data captured in the provisional register released to the Constituency office.

Mr Quansah added that 6,779 out of the registered members checked their particulars during the exhibition exercise.

The exercise, he said, was peaceful as supporters of the six candidates behaved maturely and reported their grievances to the appropriate people without inciting anybody to misbehave.

He added that issues of wrong spelling of names, some missing names and typographical errors were recorded.

The constituency secretary noted that none of the candidates or the executives has alleged that the register was bloated.

He also added that the constituency executive was collaborating with the Regional executive to correct any mistakes in the provisional register.
