Parents Asked To Make Children�s Education Number One Priority

Mrs Rebecca Bentil Bentum, Proprietor of Jarisam International School at Asante-Akuraa, a suburb of Nsawam has urged parents to let the education of their children be the number one priority in their scheme of things.

She said spending on personal belongings to the disadvantage of their offspring’s educational needs would jeopardise the future of the child, the family and the nation as a whole.

Mrs Bentum gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Asante-Akuraa in the Eastern Region.

She said a better future leadership depends on good educational foundation of children who would hold the fort after the older generation had retired from active service.

She lauded Mrs Jane Sabana Obeng, the Nsawam-Adoagyiri Municipal Education Director for building public private partnership among schools in the area.

Mrs Bentum said the partnership had really helped create healthy relationship between public and private schools to see themselves as equal in education delivery.

Mr Shadrach Bentum, the Head Teacher of the school said the school in 2014 had distinction in the Basic Education Certificate Examination and urged parents in the area to enroll their wards in the school for quality education.

He said the authorities of the institution are sponsoring about 30 school children.

He appealed to philanthropists and non-governmental organisations to come to the aid of the school for a permanent structure since they are holding classes for 360 pupils in rented premises.
