Samia's Decisions To Contest Presidential Polls Described As A Blessing

The Eastern regional branch of the Conventions People’s Party (CPP) has welcomed the decision by Samia Yaba Nkrumah, daughter of Ghana's first President, to contest for the Flagbearership position of the CPP describing it as a blessing for the party.

Speaking to the Daily Heritage, the Eastern Regional Chairman of the CPP, Opare Addo said the CPP is blessed to get someone like Samia to contest the flagbearership position.

"I haven't heard people talk or raise questions about Nana Akufo-Addo because his father was a political leader before, Samia has been stressing that she is coming to finish the unfinished work of his father so it is not like somebody is doing it and she is coming to complete, so far nobody has come out to say that he is finishing the work of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah except Samia.”

According to the chairman, despite Samia's failure to go to parliament for the second time in Jomoro constituency, she is capable of leading the country.

Mr. Addo stated that the CPP is becoming attractive now; therefore, he won’t be surprised to see a keen contest in flagbearership position.

“Competition always brings out the best, the CPP is becoming an attractive party, there are some parties in Ghana which have consistently presented one candidate throughout, so if CPP is fortunate to have many people contesting for the presidential candidate, then we are blessed and it is something to be encouraged.

He said the 2012 presidential candidate for the party, Dr. Abu Sakara “is a good candidate, but he must work harder."
