The Minister of Communications, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has called on the Institute Of Public Relations (IPR) Ghana, to institute a programme to name and shame politicians and political parties, which incite or use intemperate language in the political discourse.

He said naming and shaming politicians had become necessary in view of the continues incitement of the public by some politicians and political parties on radio and other media for political expediency.

Dr. Boamah, who made the call at the 23rd annual general meeting of the IPR in Accra  entreated politicians and political parties to be civil and desist from the mudslinging and vilification of their political opponents.

Held under the theme “Public Relations and Peaceful Elections: My Role, Your role,” the IPR used the programme to admit new members into the institute.

The minister advised political parties to seek professional advice from PR practitioners in the crafting of their political messages,.

He said the peace and cohesion of the country was very crucial and that political parties should be mindful of the messages they said to the public. Dr. Boamah entreated IPR, Ghana, to lead to take a leading role in shaping the communication of political parties.
