Stop The BiasSawla NDC Youth Warn Executives

Some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Sawla/Kalba Constituency in the Northern Region have registered their displeasure with the open bias some of their executives have displayed in the run up to their impending Parliamentary primaries.

In a petition sent to the party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, signed by 25 people, the worried  NDC youth made it clear that if the behaviors of those cited in the petition were not checked, it was likely the party could be torn apart.

CONCERNED NDC YOUTH OF SAWLA/KALBA CONSTITUENCY

A PETITION TO STOP THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (NDC) EXECUTIVES FROM TEARING THE PARTY APART IN THE SAWLA/KALBA CONSTITUENCY

We the concerned NDC youth of Sawla /Kalba constituency wish to bring to the notice of the leadership of our great party, the activities of some of the executives capable of tearing the party apart in the constituency.

These executives who include; Mr. Chochitey Mathew the constituency secretary, Mr. Simon Belmbe the constituency organizer, Haja Madia the constituency women organizer, Mr. Abubakari Mohammed the constituency youth organizer and Alhaji Osman Seidu (aka Swin) the constituency treasurer have all barefacedly involved in intra party politics for self centered reasons.

All these executives mentioned above are vigorously campaigning for honorable Isaac Dramani Mumuni the Current District Chief Executive for the Sawla-Tuna-Kalba district and an aspirant for the up-coming parliamentary primaries. They are doing this without regards to the same constitution which empowers them and also enjoins every member of the party to ensure that there is unity and cohesion in the party at all times as stated in article 39 of the NDC constitution.

In the face of the president and other party leaders’ call for a clean and issue based campaign, there is a lot of indecency and political manipulation going on in the Sawla/Kalba constituency, even to the extent that photocopied registration forms with the same serial number were used during the just ended party membership registration. This, the constituency executives had foreknowledge of. Information available to us points out that there will be a lot of disturbances on the voting day (primaries) at the polling stations to create room for vote cheating, because one of the candidates (honorable Isaac Dramani Mumuni) with the support of the executives wants to win the primaries at all cost. These manipulations, if not stopped will result in the party losing the Sawla/Kalba seat come 2016.

Very soon the primaries will be over and every party member will be involved in a wider campaign platform. However, our concern is that if the aspirant that is being denigrated and painted black emerges as a winner in the primaries, these executives will have no campaign message for the electorates in 2016. We request that the aspirants be given a leveled playing field so that if any of them wins the primaries then he has the backing of the constituents and will be able to compete effectively with the rather strong NPP candidate in 2016.

The party is gradually losing grounds in a constituency where it should be winning more than ninety per cent (90%) of the votes in general elections. This is an upshot of the political gerrymandering that is being practiced by constituency executives over the years with impudence.

As concerned youth of this great party, we don’t want to sit and watch these self centered politicians destroy with impunity the fundamental party structures that others have built over the years through sacrifice. We are therefore, petitioning your outfit to take the necessary actions to restore and preserve the unity and cohesion that we need to avert any disintegration in the aftermath of the primaries, and more importantly, to ensure victory in 2016.

Your immediate action is highly anticipated. Thank you for your time
