Surrender All Explosives �Police Tell Public

The police administration has reminded members of the public of the provisions of Executive Instrument (E.I) 21 of 1999, which prohibits the manufacture, possession or carriage of any of the following categories of explosives;

a.       Fire Crackers often known as knockout

b.      Display shells

c.       Artillery shells; and

d.      Ball and canister shells

“The service, while entreating prospective importers and dealers in such explosives to refrain from importing and selling, is also calling on members of the general public to desist from purchasing, possessing or using them,” a statement signed by the Director General in charge of public affairs, DCOP Ampah banning said.

“The service wishes to state that, to ensure strict compliance of this provision, personnel who will be deployed for special operations during the festive seasons will be tasked to arrest any person or group of persons who act contrary to this instrument for prosecution.

Members of the public who are already in possession of these prohibited explosives are therefore advised to deposit them with the Police Officer in charge at the nearest Police Station.

The general public is hereby entreated to co-operate with the police for incident free Christmas festivities.
