Voting to endorse the candidature of President John Dramani Mahama for a second term on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress in the 2016 presidential elections, began smoothly in the Ho Central Constituency.
Mr Benjamin Kpodo, Member of Parliament for the Constituency, is also going unopposed, giving delegates the simple task of endorsing only President Mahama.
Voting began in all 67 centres on time at 0700 hours but on a very low key with some centres not recording a single vote at 0800 hours.
At the Ho Sports Stadium Centre, only two people voted at 0805 hours and seven at the Ministry of Food and Agriculture centre at about 0830 hours.
At the Agric centre, Mr Enock Fenu, Presiding Officer, told the GNA that the indelible ink expired so they tick names of delegates to indicate they voted.
Thousands of card bearing members are expected to cast their votes at 1,288 voting centres across the Volta Region.
A total of 89 parliamentary aspirants including 14 females, 23 sitting MPs and one DCE are contesting in the 25 constituencies, with three incumbent MPs going unopposed.
Elections at the Nkwanta South Constituency have been put on hold by the National Executive Committee of the Party.
Parliamentary elections in the Ketu South and North Tongu Constituencies have also been suspended due to court injunctions secured by aggrieved aspirants.
