A communication team member of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has called on electorates in the Korle Klottey constituency to vote against their aspirant, Dr. Zenator Rawlings.

Charles Owusu has accused former President Jerry Rawlings of masterminding the killings of June 4, 1979 military uprising and therefore would be disaster if his daughter becomes the Member of Parliament for the area.

“I’m calling on all the electorates in Zenator’s constituency to vote massively against her. Her father has committed so many atrocities and has made people suffer in the country and so a chance for his daughter means we have voted for him (Jerry John Rawlings) as the president again” he asserted.

Mr. Rawlings was Chairman of the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) which governed from June 4, 1979 to September 24, 1979 after the council forcefully took power in a coup against another Military regime, Supreme Military Council II.

June 4 came on the heels of a prior abortive coup on May 15, 1979 when Flt. Lt. Jerry Rawlings and other ranks were arrested.

But the PPP Man told Afia Pokua on Asempa FM that “punishment which was supposed to go to Mr. Rawlings after committing those crimes must go to his daughter and for that to happen, I urge the electorates to vote against her” he stated.

Dr. Zenator Rawlings is contesting incumbent Nii Armah Ashitey and grandson of national hero Tetteh Quarshie, Leeford Kpakpo Quarshie.
