Mayor of Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Dr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuije has won the candidature of Ablekuma South Constituency to represent the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2016 election.

Dr. Alfred Oko Vanderpuije polled 3,298 votes to take over the candidature from Hon. Fritz Baffour and his contender Dr. Wisdom Nii Amo Duodoo walked away with 1,259 votes
