No names of voters in voters register

A number of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) registered members in the Nkawkaw, Mpraeso and Abertifi constituencies could not find their names in the voters register.

They were therefore denied the opportunity to cast their votes in the presidential and parliamentary primaries of the party.

This led to low turnout in the elections in the three constituencies in the Kwahu area when the Ghana News Agency visited some of the polling stations in the three constituencies.

In the Abertifi Constituency, one of the candidates, Madam Georgina Opoku, popularly known as Assau and about 40 of her supporters could not find their names in the register at the various polling centres visited to cast their votes.

Some of the registered voters, who were interviewed, said they were disappointed and blamed the officials at the party headquarters and some constituency executives for the omission.

According to Alhaji Cedi Bello , the Nkawkaw Constituency Secretary of the party, 26 registered voters at Jamase Number One Polling Centre could not find their names, while at Ohene Ekra and Odumase Polling Centres , the names of all the registered voters did not appear in the register and therefore could not cast their votes.

He said, during the exhibition of the voters register, it was noticed that, some registered members names were omitted from the register and therefore those names were written and attached to be included in the final register, but this was not done.
