Blay Receives Fake Ohene Ntow Report To Clear Himself Of Charges

Contrary to claims by the Akufo-Addo backed acting Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Freddie Worsemao Armah Blay that the biggest opposition party will not shelter any corrupt official when elected into government, latest information emerging from a probe into the operation of a supposed “Secret Account” at Trust -Towers branch of ECOBANK proves otherwise.

Astoundingly, The aL-hAJJ has gathered that, it is rather Freddie Blay, who only last week attacked the Mahama-led National Democratic Congress government for becoming “safe haven for corrupt officials who gleefully looted state coffers”, who is being shielded by his boss and friend, Nana Akufo-Addo and his acolytes; to avoid sanction and/or prosecution.

It would be recalled that when news broke out that Freddie Blay and his “accomplice”, allegedly diverted party funds into a dormant account at ECOBANK, the NPP set up a committee headed by former General Secretary, Nana Ohene Ntow, to probe the allegations.

Other members of the committee, apparently handpicked by the NPP 2016 flag bearer to purposely skew outcome of the investigations in order to save “his men” from embarrassment, included MPs for Old Tafo, Dr Anthony Akoto Osei; Dormaa Central, Kwaku Agyemang Manu; Wenchi, Prof George Yaw Gyan-Baffour, and Bekwai, Joe Osei-Owusu.

According to sources, suspended NPP chairman’s choice of Nana Ohene Ntow as Chairman of the committee was not without heated argument between Nana Akufo-Addo, his linchpins and he Paul Afoko, who had to argue that Mr. Ohene Ntow, by virtue of being a former party General Secretary, towers over and above an MP and moreover, all other four members of the committee are all Members of Parliament.

This paper was reliably informed that the Ohene Ntow committee completed it work some weeks back, but “because the report was not favourable to Freddie Blay and his colleague and also recommended that they be sanctioned for the unlawful conduct, they refused to act on it,” a party insider noted.

The source added that “just last week, the four members of the committee met without the knowledge of the chairman of the committee, sanitized the “original” report to exonerate Freddie Blay and his accomplice and presented it to Ohene Ntow to sign…

But, Ohene Ntow protested and said that was not the report they worked on so he refused to sign the ‘doctored’ report. This was after they (the other four committee members) met with some big men of the party to scrutinize the report,” the sourced added.

The altered report, The aL-hAJJ has gathered, was subsequently tabled at a Steering Committee meeting last week in the presence of Nana Akufo-Addo, a supposed believer in rule of law and self-acclaimed anti-corruption crusader, and strangely presented it to Freddie Blay, (incidentally, the person at the center of investigations).

This paper has also gathered that while the “original” Ohene Ntow report recommended sanctions against the acting chairman and all those who colluded to operate the secret account, the ‘doctored’ report, even while admitting to certain “unlawful conduct” only recommended officials involved be cautioned and must be careful not to repeat similar conduct in future.

Having been cleared of the charges courtesy the bogus Ohene Ntow report, Freddie Blay, this paper has been told, gleefully accepted the report and its findings, promising to implement the recommendation therein.
