After Mahamas Massive Endorsement Sweeping Shake Up In Govt Looms

Having received overwhelming endorsement from members of the National Democratic Congress in last Saturday’s presidential primaries to officially crown him NDC candidate for the 2016 elections, President John Dramani Mahama is gearing up to announce what Flag Staff House sources described as “final and comprehensive reshuffle of his government”.

Deep throat source told The aL-hAJJ that as the John Mahama-led NDC government inches to the final year of its four year mandate, the genteel Northern born communicator-turned-president will in the coming days announced a major reorganization of his administration that “will cut across all the sectors”

The ‘new appointees’ to lead President Mahama’s final onslaught in office, this paper has gathered, are expected to make a strong “case” for the president’s second term re-election in the November 2016 elections.

“Don’t be surprised to see some new faces…likewise some ministers and deputy ministers will swap positions while a few others may be asked to take early shower. Those who would retain their portfolios or swap positions will be charged to continue with the good works the President is doing, and improve upon it significantly so that Ghanaians will feel the touch of his government,” a source at the Flag Staff House revealed.

The source said, while the reshuffle will not be much different from other reorganizations, this reshuffle is most likely to affect some of the ministries that have not tasted reshuffle since the President ascended to the highest throne of the land.

However, a critical aspect of this particular reshuffle, The aL-hAJJ has been told, is that it will affect most Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of major state institutions and/or their deputies. Whiles some of the CEOs and their deputies are expected to have their appointments confirmed, others would go on retirement, dismissed or asked to switch portfolios.

Among state institutions to be affected in the yet-to-be announced foundation shaking restructuring, this paper has gathered, include the Bank of Ghana, GCB, SIC, adb, National Investment Bank, Social Security & National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), National Health Insurance Authority, NTHC and Ghana Re-Insurance.

Others are Ghana Ports & Habours Authority, Ghana Maritime Authority, Ghana Shipping Authority, COCOBOD, PBC, Cocoa Processing Company, Civil Aviation and Ghana Airport Company.

The rest are Ghana Water Company, VRA, ECG, GRIDCO, Ghana Railway Corporation, GOIL, GNPC and Ghana Gas among others.

The police administration, Ghana Immigration and some of the security services too are expected to have substantive heads named.

One source also added that the “old man will also revisit the green letter he issued to appointees at the flag staff house some time back. Most of them will be reassigned while others will get outright dismissal.”

While stating that the President has concluded on the reorganization of his administration but was only waiting for the NDC presidential primaries to pass, a close source said John Mahama’s soon-to-be announced reshuffle, apart from ensuring that his government is well-oiled to retain power in 2016, is also expected to bring more bite into the administration to ensure it ends his four-year mandate on a high note.

“I can confirm to you that an elaborate version of the reshuffle is in the offing and it will be the President’s final reshuffle for his first term in office”.

President John Mahama was over the weekend massively endorsed by an overwhelming 1,199,118 ‘Yes’ votes representing 95.10% from party members in last Saturday’s presidential primaries.
The endorsement means he will once again lead the NDC in the 2016 general elections.

Out of the about two million party members expected to cast their votes, 61,846 voted ‘No’ in relation to President Mahama’s candidature in 265 out of 275 constituencies.
