Defeated Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ningo Prampram Constituency, Enoch Teye Mensah has stated that newly elected candidate Sam George should apologize to him publicly before he will accept him as his son.

“Sam George maligned and denigrated me through the media therefore I will only accept any apology if he offers it through the medium he used to destroy me” E.T stated on Accra Okay FM Tuesday

The elections in Ningo Prampram like those in the other constituencies were supposed to have been held Saturday but acts of violence, accusations and counter accusations between the two aspirants, complaints of missing names in the voters register meant for the elections had to be rescheduled to Sunday.

George and his supporters went on to accuse the former Sports Minister of scheming with the greater Accra regional chairman Ade Coker to ensure his defeat in the election.

But after a fierce campaign on Saturday and Sunday, Sam George pulled the biggest shock in the NDC parliamentary elections beating the incumbent ET Mensah with over 2000 votes.

Certified results by the Electoral Commission showed George polled 4,910 votes representing 63.4 per cent of valid votes cast to end the parliamentary career of Mr. Mensah who has been in parliament since 1997. ET Mensah polled 2,831 votes representing 36.5 per cent of valid votes cast.

However, Sam George after the election extended an olive branch to his opponent saying “the incumbent ET Mensah should accept me as a son and realize that we are one party …this is a victory for NDC”.

He stressed the need for unity between the two sides ahead of the 2016 general elections.

“I and Hon ET Mensah together will deliver this seat for NDC come 2016 and we will deliver it together for his Excellency John Dramani Mahama.

But the defeated MP is not amused: “Sam George cannot insult his father in public so if he sees me as his father why did he put mud on me in public and so he should apologize to me in public before I accept him”.
