We Wont Use Stones To Fuel Power Barge - Yamoah Ponko Tells Critics

The 225 Megawatts capacity power barge from Turkey, which scheduled date of arrival has been uncertain has arrived according to NDC’s Yamoah Ponko.

Yamoah Ponko who was speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie' challenged host Kwasi Aboagye to visit the Tema harbour to see for himself the power barge.

“Stop the mischief and go to the port and see for yourself. I am telling you on authority that the power barge is in Ghana so spread the good message. By the help of the President [Mahama] the power barge is here in Ghana. We [NDC] promised and we have fulfilled,” he lamented.

Ghana’s power crises intensified last week after the Aboadze gas plant was shut down to enable the African Middle East Investment (AMERI) Power Plant to be connected to the Volta River Authority thermal plants at Aboadzie.

The arrival of the Power Barge as claimed by Mr. Ponko will help curb the power crisis if it start operation – but some have argued that the NDC will not be able to fund for the fuel usage of the mobile power system.

This has angered Yamoah Ponko after he questioned how “low” and “irrelevant” some Ghanaians think about the Mahama-led administration.

“We [NDC] had money to purchase the power barge so why can’t we have money to fuel it? We didn’t use stones to buy it [Power Barge] and we won’t use stones to fuel it,” he fumed.
