MTN provides six-unit classroom block

The MTN Ghana Foundation, has inaugurated a fully-furnished six-unit classroom block, an office and a store valued at GH¢ 170,000 for the Asikasu Methodist Basic School in the Upper West Akyem District in the Eastern Region.

The classroom block is expected to directly benefit more than 200 pupils in Asikasu and its environs.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs Cynthia Lumor, the Executive Director of MTN Ghana Foundation said since the establishment of the Foundation in 2007, her outfit has impacted the lives of about three million people through 102 projects in the areas of education, health and economic empowerment.

She said: “To us at the MTN Ghana Foundation, this is a demonstration of what corporate social interventions should be. MTN is happy to identify needs and help fulfill it in a way that is meaningful and sustainable.”

Mrs Lumor tasked both teachers and pupils of the school to adopt a good maintenance culture in order to preserve the facility.

The Headmaster of the school, Mr Emmanuel Larbi Apraku expressed gratitude to MTN Ghana for the new classroom block.

He said it would help motivate the pupils to work harder to achieve excellent results.

He stated that the provision of the facility would also help in increasing admissions.

The Asikasu Methodist School project was undertaken at the request of the Chiefs and people of the community.
