Ghanaians Still Have Confidence In Prez Mahama; Amenfi West By-Election Will Prove It - Koku Anyidoho

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in a desperate attempt to win the Amenfi West parliamentary seat in the Western Region in a by-election slated for December 15, 2015, is purportedly employing unconventional tactics to outwit its opponents.

The by-election would be held in accordance with Article 112 (5) of the constitution, following the sudden death of the NDC Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency, John Gyetuah, on October 13, 2015.

Various political parties are earnestly campaigning in the area with the hope of clinching victory.

They include the New Patriotic Party (NPP), which has Paul Dekyi, a legal practitioner, as its candidate; the NDC, whose candidate is Eric Afful and the Progessive People’s Party (PPP), with Abraham Kojo Boadi as its candidate.

Reacting to the allegation that the ruling NDC due to the by-election has started road constructions in the Amenfi West Constituency, the deputy General Secretary of the party, Koku Anyidoho denied the allegation but added road constructions are ongoing in the several places across the country.

He stressed the road construction in Amenfi West has caught attention due to the by-election, thus the roads under construction has nothing to do with the by-election.

He however said the road construction in Amenfi West is not unusual even if it is due to the by-election because the opposition NPP when it was in power did same during by-elections in order to outwit its opponents.

He therefore saw nothing wrong insofar as the NDC is not giving out money to the electorates in order to induce them to vote for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The deputy Chief Scribe of the NDC reiterated that there will be a repetition of Talensi by-election in Amenfi West Constituecny to prove to Ghanaians that the NDC government has the capacity to manage the affairs of the state.

He asserted that in spite of the challenges in the country which the NDC accept fully and recognize, Ghanaians are still confident in the leadership of the NDC and President Mahama.

“...we are going to go there and as it was done in Talensi, we will go and do the same at Amenfi West and prove to Ghanaians that NDC still has the capacity to manage the affairs of the state and that in spite of the challenges which we accept, Ghanaians are still confident in the leadership of NDC and President Mahama,” Anyidoho stated on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show.
